It is your dream. Not theirs.

It is easy to sit back and let everyone achieve their dreams while you cheer them on. It’s part of being a good human. But what about you? When do you get to turn your dreams into a reality?

It is time for you to take control of your life and move forward in a way that will help you. Remember your first time flying on an airplane? As the plane was pulling away from the gate, the flight attendant was standing up in the middle of the aisle going over what you would need to do if there was a sudden change in cabin pressure. An oxygen mask will drop from the ceiling and you will be able to put your mask on. The advice to you is to put your own mask on before helping those around you.

Look at life that way.

Yes, do you need to help others who need your help? Of course you do! Don’t get me wrong! I love serving others and focusing my time on building other people up. But you can’t forget about yourself.

So, what is one of your dreams?

As silly as it may sound, I have a very materialist dream. I want to drive a white Mercedes Benz G-Class, also known as a G-Wagon. It is something I dream about! I printed off a picture of this overly expensive car, with a red bow on the top, laminated, and taped it to the mirror in my bedroom. Does it matter that the car cost more than what most people make in a year? No. Because it is MY DREAM, not yours. That is the beauty of dreams. It is your dream! No one has the right to tell you if it is right or wrong.

So what do you think about as you’re lying in bed? What are the thoughts that swirl around in your mind, not letting you fall asleep? What about being able to break free and own your life again? What about going on that vacation to Hawaii you’ve always dreamed about? It doesn’t matter what it is.

Let’s do an exercise together. I want you to grab something to write on. A piece of paper, the back of a receipt, maybe even your journal. I want you to think about your life. Where do you want it to go? Who do you want to be? Where do you see yourself in a year from now? How do you want to spend your free time? There are literally a million questions you could ask yourself. Write it down. Put it in a place you’ll see every day. I look in the mirror every day, so that is where I put mine.

The purpose of this exercise is to get you dreaming again. It is SO EASY to get wrapped up in your own life and forget that there is anything else out there. But there is a whole world for YOU to go and experience! Yes, YOU! You are the creator of your own life. You get to decide where you want to go.

Once you realize that, you can have anything.

That is what I want for you. I want you to be the author of the next chapter of your life.

You can have it all. Believe in yourself and believe that you are worth it. Because I know that you are.

xoxo
